A Ghanaian PhD student based in the United Kingdom, Lius Laud Apprey, has raised concerns about the dire situation faced by Ghanaian students studying in the UK under government scholarships.

Due to the government’s failure to meet its financial commitments, these students are now struggling to survive in a foreign country.

Apprey explained that many of these students have not been receiving the financial support they were promised, which has led to severe consequences.

Some students have been expelled from their schools for failing to pay tuition fees, while others have been evicted from their homes for not meeting rent obligations. In extreme cases, some are even facing the threat of deportation, as they are unable to meet the necessary financial requirements for their continued stay in the UK.

The situation has become so desperate that some students have resorted to extreme measures to make ends meet.

In an interview with TV3, Apprey revealed that some of the affected students have been forced to sell their sperm just to survive, highlighting the lengths to which they are going in order to cope with the financial crisis.

The failure of the government to support these students not only jeopardises their education but also places them in difficult and degrading situations, raising serious questions about the welfare and future of Ghanaian students abroad.
