The Asante Kingdom marked the second day of the Dɔte Yie burial rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The day was a striking blend of mourning, royal protocol, and a vibrant exhibition of Asante culture.

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II held court at midday, receiving a stream of visitors offering their condolences. The day’s attendance included prominent political figures such as the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Buah, and the Bosomtwe Constituency MP, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum.

Key government institutions were represented, including the Ghana National Prisons Service, National Intelligence Bureau, National Signals Bureau, Ghana Cocoa Board, and Ghana Shippers Authority. Leading banks and financial institutions, including Consolidated Bank, Access Bank, Stanbic Bank, Zenith Bank, Ecobank, and Enterprise Insurance, also sent delegations.

Adding to the day’s solemnity were students from TI Ahmadiyya Senior High School and St. Louis Senior High School, who participated in the filing past, demonstrating the deep community connection to the Asante royalty.

The burial rites will continue on Wednesday, September 17, culminating in the final interment on Thursday, September 18, at Breman Baamu. Daily filing past is scheduled between 5 am and 5 pm, with the final day ending at 11 am to allow a 3 pm burial service. Outdoor movement will be restricted from 7 pm on the last day to ensure the processions and burial ceremonies proceed without disruption.
