Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has been released on bail after his arrest for involvement in a car accident that tragically resulted in the death of a 3-year-old boy.
Lil Win appeared in court where his bail was set at GH¢50,000 with two sureties. The court has adjourned the case to June 27, 2024, allowing the actor to temporarily regain his freedom while legal proceedings continue. He has been charged with dangerous driving, negligently causing harm and the use of an unregistered branded car.
Background of the Incident
The accident occurred on Saturday, May 25, 2024, when Lil Win’s vehicle was reportedly overspeeding and swerved into oncoming traffic, leading to a collision.
The young boy, who was traveling with his father, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Anwiam Hospital before being transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The boy has since been laid to rest.
The incident has sparked significant public outcry, with many accusing the actor of reckless driving.
In the video which shows the arrest of Lil Win, he was being assisted into a police vehicle while seated in a wheelchair, wearing a neck brace and bandages.
The tragic event has resonated deeply within both the Ghanaian and Kumawood communities. Many are calling for justice for the young boy and his family, while also expressing concern for Lil Win’s well-being and urging for a fair trial.
As the case progresses, all eyes will be on the June 27 court date, where further details are expected to emerge.
