A Nigerian man has shared a chilling account of his 17-day ordeal in the custody of Fulani herdsmen, during which he was subjected to physical and emotional torment.
The man, who posted his experience on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that after enduring severe abuse, his captors demanded a ₦10 million ransom before releasing him.
In the emotional post, the man spoke in his native Igbo language, recounting the dehumanizing conditions he faced during his abduction.
He described the torment he suffered, highlighting the brutal treatment by his captors, who showed no mercy despite the immense pain he endured.
The kidnapping, which has stirred outrage across social media, prompted numerous comments and reactions from concerned Nigerians.
Many expressed their frustration over the ongoing violence and kidnappings in the country, lamenting the government’s lack of action. Several users criticized the slow response to human kidnappings compared to swift military action in other situations, such as oil pipeline protection.
Some online commentators called for the Nigerian people to take matters into their own hands, urging communities to arm themselves for protection.
Others vented their anger over what they perceived as the government’s neglect of the issue, accusing authorities of focusing on political distractions rather than addressing the real dangers facing citizens.
The man’s post has added fuel to the growing calls for more decisive government action to curb the increasing wave of abductions and violence by criminal groups across Nigeria.
