In a shocking turn of events, gospel musician Diana Asamoah’s phone was snatched during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) rally at Jubilee Park in Kumasi on Tuesday.
Asamoah, a passionate supporter of the NPP, was in the middle of her performance when the theft occurred.
The incident caused a brief disruption to the event, as Asamoah stopped her performance to announce the theft to the crowd. She appeared visibly shaken, and security personnel quickly stepped in to investigate the matter.
The rally was held to introduce Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, as the NPP’s running mate for the upcoming elections. The event was attended by high-ranking party officials and supporters, and was seen as a key moment in the party’s campaign.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, the rally continued without further incident. Asamoah’s performance was well-received by the crowd, and NAPO’s introduction was met with enthusiasm and applause.
After the event, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led the party executives to the Manhyia Palace to introduce the party ticket to 2024 election, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of security at public events, and the need for vigilance to prevent theft and other criminal activity. It is unclear whether the incident was isolated or part of a larger pattern of theft in the area.
