Rapper Sarkodie recently revealed a humorous yet humbling shopping experience he had in New York in 2022 with Dutch football star Memphis Depay and French winger Ousmane Dembélé. Speaking on Lawson TV, the Ghanaian rapper shared that the outing left him empty-handed, as he realized the footballers were operating on a whole different spending level.

Sarkodie explained that he shares a close bond with Depay, describing the PSG forward as “like a brother,” and noted they even have an unreleased song together. During their New York meetup, Depay brought along Dembélé for a shopping spree, but the experience quickly became overwhelming for the rapper.

“Memphis is a very close friend of mine; he’s like a brother. During our meetup, he came with Dembélé, and we went shopping. I soon realized how much the two were spending, so I decided not to buy anything. With people like them, it’s best to have a conversation and leave the store quickly,” Sarkodie recounted.

Interestingly, Sarkodie admitted that he initially didn’t know who Dembélé was. It was only after his team pointed him out that he looked him up on social media to learn more. Despite the shopping setback, the rapper remains close friends with Depay and fondly recalls the memorable experience.
