(Video) Two feared dead, others injured in truck accident on Winneba-Accra Highway

In a tragic incident on the Winneba-Accra highway earlier this morning, two individuals are feared dead and several others injured following an accident involving a heavily loaded truck.

The truck, carrying tomatoes and garden eggs—currently among the most expensive vegetables in Ghana—overturned in the middle of the road.

Eyewitnesses report that the truck lost control, causing it to tip over and spill its cargo across half of the highway.

A video circulating on social media shows the extent of the damage, with tomatoes strewn across the road and the overturned truck obstructing traffic. In the video, a man can be seen directing vehicles to use the other side of the road to prevent further accidents and ensure the safety of other motorists.

It is unknown whether emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured and manage the traffic disruption or residents helped do that.

It is assumed that authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and drivers must exercise caution while traveling on the highway.

The incident has highlighted the need for improved road safety measures, especially for vehicles transporting heavy loads.
