Voting for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate has commenced in the Ashanti Region, with delegates flocking to polling centres to cast their ballots.

Reports from correspondents across the region indicate a massive turnout, with about 250 delegates already present at the Kwadaso Constituency polling centre by 7:00 a.m.

The Ashanti Region, a stronghold of the NPP, is expected to play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the election, with 36,626 delegates set to vote, representing 17.29 per cent of the total electorate.

Delegates in the region will choose among five candidates; Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.

The election is being conducted under tight security, with the Ghana Police Service deploying personnel to all polling centres.

The party has urged delegates to conduct themselves peacefully and strictly adhere to the electoral guidelines.
