Law enforcement authorities in the Ashanti Region are on high alert as they track down a prime suspect linked to a series of violent attacks on mobile money vendors.
Identified as Martin Amoah, also known as “Baba Macho,” the fugitive is wanted for his alleged involvement in the robbery and killing of a vendor in Kumasi.
Investigators believe Amoah may be hiding in Kumasi, Dunkwa-on-Offin, Accra, or parts of the Central Region, prompting a nationwide appeal for information regarding his whereabouts.
The ongoing police operation follows the recent arrests of three individuals—Charles Kwame Danso, Philip Foujour, and Samuel Audae Mensah—who were apprehended in Pankrono and Atimatim on March 21, 2025.
Their capture is part of efforts to curb a growing wave of attacks on mobile money operators in the region, which has seen three vendors killed within the past two months. Two of these incidents reportedly involved firearms.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe has urged residents to remain vigilant and assist in locating Amoah. He assured that the police are committed to ensuring all those responsible for the attacks are brought to justice.
The public has been encouraged to report any relevant information by calling the police hotlines 191 or 112. Meanwhile, the arrested suspects remain in custody and will be processed for prosecution as investigations continue.
