The permit issued to the developer, Georgina Opoku, for the project has been revoked
A structure intended to be situated beneath the Flowerpot Interchange on the Spintex Road has drawn public attention after the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, visited the site and ordered an immediate halt to construction works.
According to Linda Ocloo in a Facebook post, the positioning of the project raises serious concerns about right-of-way issues and the potential obstruction of critical public infrastructure.
The developer of the project which was intended to be a washing bay and a parking space, Georgina Opoku, also known as Asor, however insists she followed all laid-down procedures and obtained the necessary permits before commencing the project.
Linda Ocloo halts construction project beneath ‘Spintex’ overpass
In an interview with Channel One TV on February 10, 2026, she stated that the permit was issued to her by the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly.
“Somewhere in October 2025, the highway and assemblies called me to the assembly. They had an orientation with me for about two hours, showing the videos and whatever they wanted at this particular space. So after that, on November 18, 2025, I had the permit from the assembly,” Asor said.
Asor, who had begun construction before the work was halted, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama to intervene.
She explained that she had already made huge financial investments into the project, which was intended to serve as a washing bay and parking space.
“Electricity, I spent GH¢35,000. ECG did not collect the money; they wrote what I was supposed to buy, and I bought them myself. So for electricity and water alone, I spent GH¢50,000. The blocks, I had 2,000 blocks, the sand, the chipping, the cement, and the workers that I paid. The washing bay machine, one is $19,000, and the room, that is $11,000. I am just pleading with the listening President. I know he is a father. Mama Lordina, please help me,” she pleaded.
However, information available indicates that the permit issued by the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly to Georgina Opoku, also known as Asor, to put up the structure beneath the Flowerpot Interchange on the Spintex Road has since been revoked.
