The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has departed Ghana for a short vacation after months of demanding royal, traditional and national duties.

A post shared on Opemsuo Radio’s X page on February 3, 2026, stated that the break follows an extensive period of engagements during which the Asantehene continued to offer wise leadership, cultural guidance and statesmanship to the people of Ghana and beyond.

“The brief break comes after months of demanding royal, traditional, and national engagements, during which the King continued to offer wise leadership, cultural guidance, and statesmanship to the people of Ghana and beyond,” the post stated.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has in recent months presided over several traditional ceremonies and public events, while playing a key role in national development and peace-building efforts across the country.

Footage accompanying the post showed Otumfuo Osei Tutu II being escorted out of the Manhyia Palace as part of arrangements for his departure.
