In the midst of Ghana’s recurring power outages, locally known as “dumsor,” the devastating impact on small-scale businesses has once again come to light, as illustrated by the plight of an iced kenkey seller who has been left reeling from the loss of her livelihood.
With a heavy heart and tear-stained eyes, the seller, whose identity remains anonymous, recounts the harrowing ordeal of witnessing more than 100 bottles of her cherished product spoil due to prolonged power cuts.
The delicate balance of ice-cooled kenkey, a popular delicacy among Ghanaians, proved no match for the unforgiving grip of “dumsor,” leaving her with little recourse but to watch helplessly as her stock perished.
