A candlelight vigil has been held in honour of Ghana’s iconic gospel singer, Yaw Sarpong, following his demise on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
In a series of videos shared on Instagram, family members and fans of the late legendary singer organised a vigil in his memory on February 18, 2026, at Abrepo in Kumasi.
In videos circulating online, the daughter of the late singer, unable to hold back her tears, was seen being consoled by sympathisers present at the event.

The late musician’s surviving wife was also present. In the footage, she was seen being comforted and cheered by mourners at the gathering.
The candlelight vigil, organised ahead of the singer’s one-week observation, was attended by several creatives from the music industry.
Gospel musicians, including Great Ampong, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, and Nicholas Omane Acheampong, were present to show their support for the bereaved family.
