“Survivor” singer Wendy Shay has addressed the ongoing social media controversies concerning her protégé, Tracy Shay, after the young singer was seen performing at Sista Afia’s 10th anniversary celebration in the music industry.
Recently, a video circulated on social media showing Tracy Shay urging fans to stand up during a performance in Koforidua. The video sparked heavy backlash against both Tracy Shay and her mentor, Wendy Shay.
Following the viral video, Wendy Shay has taken to social media to share her thoughts on Tracy’s performances.
It was disrespectful – Wendy Shay’s mother weighs in on Tracy Shay’s stage performance
In a video shared on X on January 7, 2025, the musician clarified that she had no knowledge of Tracy Shay’s stage performance in Koforidua, adding that she would have guided her on proper stagecraft if she had been informed.
“Anything she does affects me and my brand, so before she goes on stage, I make sure I prepare her so she does the right thing. I had no idea about that particular show, so I couldn’t prep her. I have seen people bashing her, but Tracy can’t go to Koforidua alone to perform; she is living with her parents,” she said.
Wendy Shay further reaffirmed her commitment to fulfilling her promise of grooming Tracy and paying her school fees from primary school through to university, despite calls from some fans for her to stop supporting the young artiste.
“I have seen all the comments. Some of you are saying I should take the kid back to her parents, but I want you all to know that Tracy doesn’t stay with me. Anytime you see Tracy with me, her auntie, who works as her manager, is around. Even her uncle is her road manager.

“Anytime you see Tracy around me, she is either on vacation or school is not in session. I also want you all to note that my promise to take care of her from class one to university still stands. Anything Tracy needs, as far as I am aware, I make sure to provide,” she said.
The musician also noted that Tracy Shay’s parents have apologised for their actions and appealed to fans and individuals who witnessed her protégé’s performance to forgive her.
“I have spoken with her parents, and they have apologised for allowing her to go on stage alone without my consent. She is a very talented girl, and I am the only person who sees that in her.
“She needs grooming, and if her parents align with me and allow me, I will make sure to make her the star that she is. So, I am pleading with everyone who was there to forgive her utterances,” she added.
