Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has won the Best Female Artiste, Western Africa award at the 2025 All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, held in Lagos, Nigeria, on January 11, 2026.
The five-day event combined business summits with the awards night, which served as the climax.
Wendy Shay beat competition from Tiwa Savage, Moliy, Ayra Starr, Amaarae, Josey and others to clinch the award.
In her acceptance speech, she said: “I want to say thank you to my Lord and Saviour, I want to say thank you to my fans, the Shay Gang, I want to say thank you to my partners. And I want to say thank you to my baby, Tracy Shay, for dancing to Too Late. It went viral because of her.”
The musician has been tipped by many music consumers as one of the Ghanaian artistes who stood out with strong performances during the year under review.
All Africa Music Awards (also referred to as AFRIMA) is an annual awards event to reward and celebrate musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage. Its Pioneer Awards show was held in 2014.
The awards event was established by the International Committee AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union (AU).
