Western North: One person fire outbreak at Sefwi Adjoafua

Firefighters from the Debiso Fire Station responded to a domestic fire outbreak at Sefwi Adjoafua in the Bia West District on Saturday, February 14. 

The fire claimed the life of a 70-year-old visually impaired man, Kwasi Nkansah, and destroyed a two-bedroom residence with a kitchen.

The GNFS received a distress call at 2:06 pm,  and arrived at the scene at 2:30 pm despite challenges including heavy rainfall, poor visibility, and bad road networks. The blaze was brought under control at 2:36 pm and fully extinguished by 3:03 pm, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The GNFS extended condolences to the bereaved family and community and urged families and caregivers to prioritise fire safety for vulnerable individuals.
