What Daddy Lumba’s Family Wants You to Know About His Funeral

The family of late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba is cracking down on unauthorized fan activity ahead of his funeral rites.

The Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta has warned the public against producing or selling any items bearing the iconic musician’s name or image without official approval. The stern notice came from the family’s spokesperson, Abusuapanin Kofi Abraham, in a public video released on August 5, 2025.

According to the family head, several fan clubs and individuals have already begun distributing branded T-shirts and other memorabilia without consulting the family — a move he labelled unlawful and disrespectful. He made it clear that anyone caught engaging in such activities risks facing legal consequences.

Beyond merchandise, the family also cautioned the public against reckless behaviour during the upcoming ceremonies. Excessive alcohol consumption and dangerous driving will not be tolerated, especially given Daddy Lumba’s royal lineage. The family insists that all tributes must reflect the late musician’s noble heritage.

In line with traditional rites, the family has announced that the One Week Observation will take place in Accra on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The main funeral ceremony is scheduled to follow in Kumasi, with the date to be revealed in the coming weeks.
