The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly has urged residents to remain vigilant and proactive in reporting suspicious activities, particularly involving individuals riding in pairs on motorbikes, following the arrest of 14 suspected thieves in the municipality.
The call comes after a police operation in Dzorwulu uncovered a network allegedly involved in the theft of personal and household items in the area.
The Assembly said the arrests underscore the need for community cooperation to curb criminal activity.
In a statement issued on February 7, 2026, the Assembly cautioned residents to be observant and promptly alert the police whenever they notice unusual movements.
“Residents are encouraged to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station,” the statement said.

According to the Assembly, the operation was carried out by a police patrol team on January 14, 2026, leading to the initial arrest of two suspects during routine surveillance in the Dzorwulu enclave.
Subsequent investigations and follow-up operations resulted in the arrest of an additional 12 suspects, bringing the total number of apprehended individuals to 14.
“All suspects are currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations,” the statement added.
The Municipal Assembly commended Assembly Member for the area, Sydney Kabo, for his role in facilitating a swift response to the incident, as well as the Kotobabi District Police Command for what it described as a timely and professional operation.
Reassuring residents of its commitment to public safety, the Assembly stated that “measures have been put in place to ensure the continued safety and security of residents,” while urging the public to support law enforcement efforts to maintain peace in the municipality.
