Why Businessman Richard Quaye’s Bank Accounts Have Been Frozen

Published:

Ghanaian businessman and entrepreneur Richard Nii Armah Quaye is facing financial scrutiny after reports emerged that he owes over GHS 30 million in unpaid income taxes.

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched an assessment into his tax records, leading to a series of actions against him and his companies.

The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) has moved to freeze Quaye’s personal bank accounts, as well as those of his company, Quick Credit and Bills Microfinance.

Additionally, accounts linked to Quick Credit CEO, Rome-Richlove Seshie, have also been frozen as part of the ongoing investigation.

The issue came to public attention following Quaye’s lavish 40th birthday celebration, where he made headlines for purchasing a $3 million Bugatti Chiron and a private jet worth tens of millions of dollars.

His extravagant party, attended by high-profile figures such as Osei Kwame Despite, Davido, Joselyn Dumas, and Ramsey Nouah, added to the public interest in his financial dealings.

While initial reports suggested that the GRA had frozen all his accounts, the authority later clarified that Quaye was undergoing a personal income tax assessment.
