Nollywood actress Dakore Egbuson-Akande recently shared her reasons for transitioning from music to acting, a move that surprised many.
Before her successful acting career, Dakore initially pursued a path as a musician. Reflecting on her early days, she revealed that her first love was always music, and she never envisioned herself as an actress.
In an interview, she explained that performing on stage through singing was her main focus. She had even released a song titled “Don’t Make Me” in her early years.
However, despite her initial musical ambitions, acting found its way into her life, and it turned out to be an unexpected yet fulfilling journey.
Dakore admitted that her transition from music to acting was unplanned.
She originally thought she would establish herself as a musician, and her secondary career would be in journalism, which influenced her decision to study Mass Communication at university.
However, life had different plans for her.
Looking back, she shared how her natural inclination towards performance, whether through music, dance, or public speaking, eventually led her to embrace acting.
Although her journey into the entertainment world wasn’t easy, with some close family members questioning the sustainability of such a career, Dakore’s determination and belief in herself guided her through those difficult times.
Now a household name in Nollywood, she expressed gratitude for following her passion despite the initial resistance.
Dakore noted how proud she feels to have been part of a larger movement that helped change the perception of entertainment as a viable career option in Nigeria.
