Kofi Kinaata, a Ghanaian musician, has revealed why he founded a football club called Team Move FC. In an interview on Opemsuo Radio monitored by News & Vibes , he disclosed that he was once passionate about becoming a footballer but had to abandon his dream to focus on his music career.
Kinaata explained that football was the reason he didn’t start his music career earlier, as he was deeply invested in the sport. However, he eventually stopped playing and shifted his focus to music. He revealed that most of his friends in his neighborhood, Effiakuma, were footballers, and forming a team was a way to keep them engaged and avoid distractions.
“I finance the team, and it’s not an academy but a professional team,” Kinaata clarified. “They have the potential to achieve great things when they play well, unlike in the past when we played for nothing.”
Kinaata also shared that his music career has given him more friends beyond the football community. He mentioned that Team Move FC played in the middle league last year but didn’t fare well. However, this year, they finished second in their group.
Kofi Kinaata, a talented musician and songwriter from Takoradi, has released numerous hit songs and won several awards. Notably, he won the Best Reggae/Dancehall Song of the year at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards in 2024 with his song “Effiakuma Love.”
