Calls to postpone the funeral of the late Ghanaian music legend Daddy Lumba have grown louder following advice from Prophet Kumchacha, who recommended delaying the ceremony for an entire year.

The push comes as disputes within the family, particularly over a GH₵30,000 withdrawal by the family head, have created confusion and stirred tension just as the funeral arrangements were nearing completion. Observers say the disagreement threatens to overshadow the event, frustrating supporters and fueling criticism of the planning process.

The controversy centers on whether the family head should have been responsible for managing the money for the upkeep of Daddy Lumba’s wives and other funeral obligations. The GH₵30,000 withdrawal has reignited longstanding concerns about management of funds and fairness in the family’s handling of the late musician’s estate.

Kumchacha highlighted that the family head has been associated with issues since planning began, suggesting that recurring conflicts have discouraged contributions and participation from supporters. Many are reportedly disheartened by the ongoing controversies, and there are fears that the unrest could impact attendance and the overall success of the ceremony.

The prophet’s counsel reflects growing calls for the family to resolve internal disagreements before proceeding, ensuring that the late musician’s final rites are conducted smoothly and respectfully.
