Wilmar Africa left it late to claim a crucial victory, while Ghana Airports Company Limited recorded their first win of the season as Week 9 of the 2026 University of Ghana Corporate Football League delivered drama at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Group B fixtures, played on Friday, April 24, were largely characterised by tightly contested encounters, with several matches ending in stalemates as teams struggled to gain a decisive edge in the race for qualification.

The standout moment of the evening came in the clash between Wilmar Africa and Telecel Ghana, which appeared destined for a goalless draw until the final seconds. Roland A. Mensah stepped up with the last kick of the game to convert a free-kick, sealing a 1-0 victory for Wilmar and moving them to within a point of the top spot in Group B.

Elsewhere, the National Communications Authority held Union Ghana to a goalless draw despite playing much of the match with 10 men following the dismissal of Jonathan Siaw. The Authority’s disciplined defensive display ensured they secured a valuable point against a Union side that failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage.

BOST also strengthened their position in the standings after being awarded three points via a walkover, following the failure of the Lebanese Sports Community to honour their fixture.

Ghana Airports Company Limited, however, enjoyed a landmark night in the competition, recording their first victory of the campaign after nine matches. Ernest Atta-Awuah’s 40th-minute strike proved decisive in a 1-0 win over Zenith Bank FC, offering a breakthrough moment for the side as the league enters its decisive phase.

The final match of the evening saw the Forestry Commission and the National Petroleum Authority share the spoils in a goalless encounter, with both teams unable to convert their chances despite an otherwise competitive performance.

With the group stage nearing its climax, the results leave several teams still in contention, setting up a tense finish to the competition.

The 2026 University of Ghana Corporate Football League is sponsored by Perla Mineral Water, TCL, Glico General Insurance and Wilmar Africa, with support from the Ghana Football Association. The competition is organised by the University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate in partnership with RITE Sports Services, with GTV Sports Plus and Radio Universe serving as media partners.
