A woman has been arrested for allegedly setting the auditorium of Grace Mountain Church in Accra ablaze.
CCTV footage of the incident was shared by the founder of the church, who doubles as the Convener of the Alpha Hour Prayer movement at midnight today.
The incident happened on Monday evening around 6 pm, according to records from the CCTV footage.
She was first captured throwing a solid substance on the altar of the church before proceeding to pour a liquid substance suspected to be fuel at a section of the auditorium, before setting it on fire.
Addressing the situation, the pastor announced the interim closure of the facility to make way for assessment and renovation.
“If you come here today, it will not be open,” he said.
That notwithstanding, he declared an unwavering commitment to the cause of God and his calling.
“But it will not stop us. We will fix the place, and prayers will still go on,” he said.
According to him, this is not the first time such an attack has taken place.
“How many times have we not heard people say they heard something and rushed here to pray in the auditorium? That is what the devil does not like. Last year, there was an incident where a woman spread powder on the altar, and we had to stop people from going close to it,” he added.
