Woman Dies After Generator Fails During Operation

A heart-wrenching story has emerged from Jummai Babangida Aliyu General Hospital, Nigeria, where a woman tragically lost her life after an operation was disrupted by a power outage and fuel shortage.

The incident was brought to public attention through emotional posts made by the grieving husband on his Facebook page.

He detailed how his wife’s surgery, which had already begun, was interrupted when the hospital experienced a blackout.

With no fuel available for the theater’s backup generator, the medical team struggled to maintain a stable environment for the procedure.

According to his account, the hospital staff initially attempted to manage the situation using alternative lighting like lamps and flashlights.

Meanwhile, efforts to restart the generator failed, requiring a mechanic who reportedly had to travel to Ogbomosho in Minna to obtain necessary parts.

Although electricity was eventually restored, the delay had already stretched the surgery far beyond the expected duration.

What should have been a 90-minute operation extended from 4 p.m. into the evening hours after 7 p.m., during which his wife’s condition deteriorated.
