Woman narrates how she was duped by man who promised to take her to Dubai

24-year-old woman, has shared her distressing experience involving an online friend she met through a mobile game. Her story highlights the dangers of online relationships and the exploitation that can occur.

The woman met the man through a popular game called HOMESCAPES, where players can join groups to collaborate on game events. The group created a WhatsApp group for better coordination, which is where the initial contact was made.

The man, who claimed to be from Kumasi, took her number to discuss game-related matters, and they gradually became friends. He revealed that he lived in Kumasi with his wife and three children, and coincidentally, he was from her hometown, which made her feel more connected.

Their friendship deepened, and he mentioned that his mother lived in Accra and that he would visit her soon. They arranged to meet, and when the time came, he flew from Kumasi to Accra. Their first meeting led to them spending the night together at a guest house, having engaged in sexual conversations prior to meeting. However, after this encounter, their communication became less frequent.

Some time later, she received a call from an unknown number, which turned out to be her friend now calling from Dubai. He expressed a desire to meet again and have sex, mentioning how much he enjoyed their previous encounter. He also offered to help her move to Dubai, which made her very excited and hopeful for a better future.

Trusting him, she started processing her passport and sent him nude photos, thinking it was normal in their relationship. He promised to help with her visa when he came to Ghana for his father’s funeral and agreed to bring her an iPhone in exchange for GHS 3,000 (approximately $550). She transferred the money, but the iPhone never arrived, and her calls went unanswered.

Desperate and feeling betrayed, she threatened to expose him as a scammer on social media. He retaliated by threatening to release her nude photos, forcing her to remain silent. Attempts to contact his family were futile as his daughter blocked her on TikTok and WhatsApp. Despite sending numerous messages, she received no response from him.

The woman is now jobless and in urgent need of the money to start a small business. She has exhausted all her options and is seeking help to recover her money, expressing willingness to resort to any means necessary, including traditional methods.

I felt really happy and we became close again. I use to send him nudes and stuff cos i thought it was normal since we’re friends and i also started my passport processing. So he said he was gonna come last year September for his fathers funeral so when he comes then we proceed with my visa and go together early this year So i gave him 3000gh to get me an iPhone when coming. Guys till now I haven’t received my iPhone I call him like 100 times a day he won’t answer So one day i told him i was going to post his pic on Facebook and tag him as a scammer which he threatened me with my nudes so i didn’t post I asked him yyy he decided not to give me the fon and the money and he said he will tell me but ddnt I send him lots of messages and he doesn’t respond I knew his older daughter which i sent messages on TikTok and whatsup but she blocked me Her father has also blocked me on TikTok Guys is there anyone that can help me with the collecting of my money At this point if it’s even juju i will do to take me money i will do I’m very broke and jobless now which i really need that money to start a small business
