In a viral video that garnered widespread attention, a lady found herself in a distressing situation at the Top View Hotel in Abuja, where she was forcibly stripped and tied to a chair; this alarming incident sheds light on her experience with Joseph Efe, a notorious individual believed to be involved in fraudulent activities.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command recently introduced the 30-year-old suspect, Joseph Efe, to the public during a revealing press conference held on Friday, September 20.
FCT Commandant Olusola Odumosu provided insight into Efe’s deceptive tactics, explaining how he preyed on unsuspecting women by luring them through dating platforms like “coded runs,” ultimately using this guise to steal their personal belongings, including phones, and unlawfully withdrawing money from their bank accounts.
During his confession, Efe disclosed that he met the victim, Olivia Ijeoma Chukwuemeka, on a disreputable “hookup site,” a meeting that culminated in her distressing ordeal at the hotel.
Chukwuemeka bravely recounted the terrifying moments, admitting to her initial contact with Efe and the subsequent coercion she faced.
Detailing how Efe instilled fear by threatening her safety and forcing her compliance through intimidation, Chukwuemeka revealed the manipulative and controlling behavior exhibited by the suspect throughout the ordeal.
Amidst her harrowing ordeal, Chukwuemeka’s courageous act of alerting the hotel staff to her distress ultimately led to the suspect’s apprehension.
”I met the suspect some months ago. I live in Enugu but visit Abuja for other business reasons. When I got to the hotel, the suspect asked me if I was afraid of death.”
“He said if I cooperate with him, he will not hurt me like other girls. He said his friend was outside and if I made any wrong move, he injected me with something.”
“I pleaded with him, he slapped me and asked me to strip my clothes. I tried to get to the door but it was locked by him and he held the keys.”
“He turned the television volume very high and blocked my mouth with a handkerchief. He warned me not to make any noise and left the room.”
“I later noticed movement outside the door and saw the colour of the uniform the person was wearing and was relieved that it was the hotel staff.”
“I struggled and dragged myself to the window and banged it hard. Luckily, the guy heard me and I made a sign pointing in the direction the suspect went.”
