The violence broke out on Saturday, August 23, during a funeral at Agric Nzema, where tensions between the two communities boiled over. One man, identified only as Emma, was injured in the initial clash and discharged from hospital the next day — only to be attacked again in his home by armed assailants believed to be from the rival group.

Emma is now battling for his life at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, as residents brace for possible reprisals.

Local authorities say calm has been restored following swift intervention by the Ashanti Central Regional Police Command. Patrols have been intensified, and the Kwadaso Municipal Security Council is working closely with community leaders to defuse tensions and prevent further bloodshed.

Assemblyman Kofi Agyapong, who represents the Nwamase Electoral Area, described the incident as part of a troubling cycle of retaliation. Residents remain fearful, with reports suggesting that youth from Kokode have vowed to target more individuals.

As security efforts ramp up, officials are urging both communities to prioritize dialogue over violence and help restore lasting peace in the municipality.
