Zijin Golden Ridgee reinforces commitment to long term development in Birim North District

Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, ZGRL has reaffirmed its commitment to the Birim North District to collaborate in the areas of local employment, worker safety, and peaceful coexistence. The mining company believes that dialogue, open communication, and continuous engagement provide the foundation for a strong and mutually beneficial long-term partnership.

The company made this known at a signing ceremony held at the Birim North District Assembly, which brought together traditional authorities, youth leaders from affected communities, and the District Security Council. The Framework Agreement signed at the event clarified issues relating to pre-employment health requirements for specific mining roles.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President for Human Resources at Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, Harry He, said the agreement reflects the company’s approach to responsible mining and partnership with its host communities. He added that the Framework Agreement brings clarity, transparency, and balance.

It will allow them to meet their legal and safety obligations while remaining responsive to the concerns of their host communities. Above all, it reinforces their belief that sustainable operations are built on trust, dialogue, and shared responsibility. On behalf of the youth groups in the affected communities, Alexander Ofori, described the agreement as a reflection of the peaceful manner in which the company intends to operate.

He noted that they are inspired by the company’s vision for the communities and are ready to collaborate with the company to achieve it.

The District Chief Executive of the Birim North District, Hakeem Abdul Antwi, said the signing mark the beginning of a new phase of development for the district and pledged his resolve to champion the cause so that peace will prevail in the area.

The Framework Agreement forms part of Zijin Golden Ridge Limited’s broader development agenda, which focuses on responsible mining, local capacity building, and long-term socio-economic development in its areas of operation. Through sustained engagement with traditional authorities, local government, and host communities, the company aims to create shared value while supporting stability, safety, and inclusive growth in the Birim North District.
