The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has appointed JoyNews’ Noella Kharyne Valley as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) for its Students’ Representative Council (SRC). The announcement was made in a statement issued on February 18, 2026, and signed by SRC General Secretary Thomas Amankwah Fosuhene.
“Ms Noella Kharyne Yalley, a seasoned Communication and Media personality with JoyNews, joins the SRC executive team with immediate effect,” Fosuhene said in the statement, noting that her appointment is in line with the SRC Constitution, which provides for a PRO to oversee communication and image management functions.
Yalley’s mandate includes planning strategic public relations initiatives, assessing and safeguarding the SRC’s public image, and ensuring the student body projects a positive profile reflective of UniMAC’s standards.
“We call on all students to extend their full cooperation and support to the newly appointed Public Relations Officer as she discharges her responsibilities to the student body,” Fosuhene added.
Noella Yalley brings experience from JoyNews, one of Ghana’s leading news organisations, where she has built a reputation in communication and media presentation.
Her appointment bridges professional media practice with student leadership, a growing trend among tertiary institutions seeking to professionalise their representative structures.
UniMAC, established under the University of Media, Arts and Communication Act (Act 1056), combines the Ghana Institute of Journalism, the National Film and Television Institute, and the Ghana Institute of Languages. The university is focused on training professionals in communication and creative arts.
Yalley is expected to begin work alongside the SRC executive in the upcoming academic session, immediately assuming responsibility for managing the Council’s communications and public image.
