Benjamin Asare is the goalkeeper of the Black Stars
Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer Fatau Dauda has heaped praises on Benjamin Asare, highlighting the shot-stopper’s focus, humility, and willingness to learn as key factors behind his steady rise in recent months.
Dauda, who guarded the post for Ghana during his playing days, revealed that he maintains close communication with Asare, offering guidance and technical feedback to help sharpen his development at both club and national team levels.
According to the former goalkeeper, mentoring players within the Black Stars setup is a responsibility he takes seriously.
“I’ve been in that position before. Because he’s in the team as a Black Stars player, and that’s my department, so anytime they play the game, I get in touch with him, with his goalkeeper coach,” Dauda explained.
“We share ideas, we give feedbacks for the way how he can improve as a goalkeeper and as an individual. So I keep advising him to stay focused.”
Dauda reminded Asare of how far he has come, urging him to maintain the same mindset that earned him recognition.
The goalkeeper’s trainer expressed satisfaction with Asare’s progress, noting the additional responsibility he carries at club level.
“So I think he’s doing well for himself and for his club. Being a captain, a leader, and then a commander, you know, it’s not easy. For that position, definitely, you know, you need to be criticised if things are not going well. That’s how it should be,” he added.
What stands out most for Dauda is Asare’s character and willingness to improve.
“But for now, I think he’s staying focused because it’s someone who will listen. He talked to me, listening. So he’s a fast learner; he’s coachable. So I’m happy for him. He’s doing well for his club and for himself.”
