Fast-rising Ghanaian star, Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey, resumes his relentless march towards global contention on April 10 when he headlines the next Legacy Rise Sports (LRS) Promotions show at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

The 23-year-old will square up to Namibia’s Jonas “Shorty” Erastus in a 10-round super flyweight showdown with the WBA Africa Super Flyweight Gold belt on the line — and potentially far more than just regional silverware at stake.

For Allotey, known among his fanbase as “Theo Lopez”, this is not merely another title tilt. Victory would edge him closer to becoming the first Ghanaian boxer to be ranked concurrently in the top 15 of all four major sanctioning bodies.

Already riding a wave of momentum, the Accra 2023 African Games bronze medallist occupies No.12 in the WBO rankings, No.13 in the IBF and No.15 in the WBC. He also sits atop the African Boxing Union (ABU) rankings, is ranked No.10 by the IBO and 12th on BoxRec.

A triumph on April 10 could open the WBA door and cement his place among the sport’s emerging global players.

Meteoric rise

Allotey’s rise has been nothing short of explosive. Within 18 months of turning professional, he captured four titles — National and UBO Africa super flyweight crowns, the WBO Africa bantamweight strap and most notably, the WBO Global title.

That defining moment came last December at the University of Ghana Stadium, where he outclassed Filipino Jayr Raquinel in front of President John Dramani Mahama, just days before Christmas.

He had earlier dazzled on LRS’s inaugural East Legon show in August 2024 before overpowering compatriot Daniel Sellassie Gorsh to claim the WBO Africa title on a blockbuster LRS–Amir Khan Promotions bill attended by Anthony Joshua in June 2025.

Standing in his path is the durable Erastus, whose only defeat in 11 professional fights came in London last June when he challenged unbeaten British prospect Alfie Clegg for the Commonwealth Silver Flyweight title.

Before that setback, Erastus had built an impressive résumé, claiming the Namibian flyweight title in October 2022 and defending it four times under two years.

He arrives in Accra with pedigree, resilience and ambition — exactly the kind of opponent to test whether Allotey is truly ready for the world stage.

The April 10 card offers other exciting bouts. National cruiserweight champion, Ahmed Abdula, steps up for the WBA Africa title against Nigeria’s hard-hitting Obaro Eradajaye, who boasts 22 wins from 24 fights and whose only two losses came in Russia last year.

Elsewhere, recently promoted Ghana Army officer, Jerry Lartey, of the LRS stable, renews hostilities with Britain’s Jesse Brandon in a rematch of their WBA Africa Super Lightweight title bout, which Lartey won convincingly on points last December.
