The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has appealed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to release two Ghanaians captured in the Russian war.

Reporting on his meeting with the President as part of his visit to the country, he said the discussion was a fruitful one.

“We held fruitful discussions focused on Ghana’s appeal on humanitarian grounds for the release of two of our citizens being held as prisoners of war in Ukraine.”

The two further explored means to combat the threat posed by trafficking networks that lure vulnerable, unsuspecting youth from Africa for recruitment as fighters in the ongoing war.
