The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced a review of its plans to offer its services to Ghanaians abroad following public sentiments against the initial approach.

In a statement, it said it was considering alternative approaches to ensure that the much-needed services become accessible to all Ghanaians, including those residing outside the country.

“We appreciate the feedback and the concerns expressed by members of the public…We assure the public that the Authority remains committed to the collective interest of the Ghanaian people and continues to work diligently to enhance our service delivery for everyone.”

The Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Julius Neequaye Kotey, during an event yesterday announced plans to send some staff abroad to provide selected services, including International Driver’s Permit and Driver’s Licence Renewal to qualified Ghanaian citizens domiciled in other countries.

A pilot programme was scheduled to take place in the United States of America, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Earlier today, it issued a statement saying the earlier information had been misinterpreted, adding that its plan was to provide training to Embassy staff to do verification of documents and forward same to DVLA for processing.

It noted that it had no plans to post its staff abroad.
