SHS athletes compete for glory in the 2026 Ashanti Regional Super Zonals

There have been some impressive displays from Senior High School (SHS) athletes at the ongoing Ashanti Regional Super Zonals, held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

In the 200-meter final, it was fiercely contested, but St Louis SHS athlete Gladys Boateng emerged as the champion, clocking a time of 24.41 seconds.

Two athletes from TI Ahmadiyya Senior High School claimed the remaining podium spots. Adelaide Fosuaa won silver with a time of 24.25 seconds, while Fulera Sulemana secured bronze after finishing third in 24.28 seconds.

Popular Black Stars jama leader Ojoe Mensah rushed onto the pitch to present Fulera with a cash gift in recognition of her impressive performance. He was heard saying, “You will kill me, you will kill me,” much to the delight of the crowd at the stadium.

In the men’s 400m final, Blessed Owusu of St Hubert SHS stormed to victory, finishing in 46.60 seconds. TI Ahmadiyya’s Kazali Iddrisu took silver with 47.12 seconds, while Osei Kyeretwie’s Evans Agyemang claimed bronze in 47.55 seconds.

The girls’ 1,000m medley team from St Louis Senior High School also claimed victory, setting a record time of 2:11.01 to clinch gold.

Meanwhile, M. Kweson Arthur of Opoku Ware School emerged victorious in the 110m hurdles final, posting a time of 14.74 seconds to outsmart his competitors.

The Ashanti Regional Super Zonals is still underway at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, as Senior High School athletes continue to showcase their potential and compete for laurels to make their schools proud.
