The Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Paa Kwesi Baidoo, has personally donated assorted food items valued at GHS 20,000 to support Muslim staff of the hospital observing the holy month of Ramadan.
The items — which included boxes of Milo and sugar, bags of rice, and cartons of milk — were presented to the hospital’s Muslim community as part of efforts to support them during the fasting period leading to Eid al-Fitr.
According to hospital management, the gesture is the first time a CEO of KATH has personally made such a donation to Muslim staff.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Baidoo described Ramadan as a sacred period of prayer, sacrifice, and spiritual reflection for Muslims worldwide. He said the donation was meant to encourage Muslim staff who continue to perform their duties while observing the fast.
He also emphasised the importance of unity and compassion within the hospital community, noting that management is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that respects the faith and welfare of all staff.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Muslim community, their leader, Ibrahim Bawa, expressed appreciation to the CEO for what he described as a thoughtful and timely gesture.
He said the provisions would help support Muslim staff during the fasting period and reflects the strong sense of solidarity within the institution.
The Muslim community at the hospital also offered prayers for Dr. Baidoo and his management team, asking for continued guidance and success in the running of the hospital.
Management says the initiative forms part of the hospital’s broader commitment to staff welfare, social responsibility, and promoting harmony among its diverse workforce.
