Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery at a jewellery shop in Dzorwulu, Accra, following months of investigations.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Mamoud and Mahmoud Abdul Aziz, also known as Justin Martin, were picked up on February 24 at Anya in the Greater Accra Region by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, March 25 and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the CID, the arrests relate to a robbery that took place on September 11, 2025, near Nyaho Clinic.

The police said two armed men, riding a motorbike, attacked the shop during the incident.

“Two-armed men on a motorbike attacked a shop, assaulted an attendant, broke the glass door, and made away with assorted jewellery from the shop,” the statement said.

Investigators said a search conducted in the suspects’ rooms led to the recovery of several items believed to have been used in the robbery.

These included a hammer, black face mask, toy pistol, gold detector, gold weighing scale, diamond detector, backpack, hand gloves, helmet, and two motorbikes.

Police added that during interrogation, the suspects admitted their involvement in the crime.

“During interrogation, the suspects admitted to the offence and mentioned one Eddy of Oyarifa as the receiver of the stolen items,” the statement revealed.

Authorities say efforts are currently underway to track down the said individual.

Both suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be put before court on Thursday, 26 March 2026.

The police say investigations are ongoing.
