The President of Rwanda, HE Paul Kagame, has received a delegation from the Asante Kingdom of Ghana at Urugwiro Village, led by Ambassador Oheneba Yaw Otchere.
The discussions on held Monday focused on expanding bilateral relations between Rwanda and the Asante Kingdom, with emphasis on cooperation in trade, investment, and mineral trade, according to a statement from the Government of Rwanda.
The meeting underscores growing sub-national diplomacy between Rwanda and traditional authorities in Ghana, building on cultural and economic linkages between the two regions.
Ambassador Otchere represents the Asante Kingdom, one of Ghana’s most prominent traditional states, under the leadership of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The visit comes as the Asantehene marks his 76th birthday and 27 years on the Golden Stool.
No further details of specific agreements were disclosed, but both sides expressed interest in deepening economic collaboration.
The engagement signals Rwanda’s continued outreach to African partners beyond state-to-state channels, leveraging traditional institutions to drive trade and investment.
