THE red carpet at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026 is set to look different as organisers introduce new restrictions due to challenges at the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC).

Charterhouse, organisers of the awards, say the limitations will affect access to the red carpet, with fewer celebrities, media personnel and guests expected to be part of the experience on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The decision follows ongoing concerns about space at the venue.

Speaking on the issue, Head of Public Relations Officer at Charterhouse, Robert Klah, explained that the constraints go beyond seating inside the main auditorium and extend to activities around the event, including the red carpet.

He revealed that the number of invited guests will be reduced, along with cuts to ticket sales and media accreditation.

According to him, the move is necessary to ensure safety and proper organisation on the night.

“The number of guests will reduce. The number of media accreditation will reduce, even tickets,” he said.

This year, however, the experience is expected to be more controlled, with a smaller crowd and fewer appearances. While this may come as a disappointment to some fans and industry players, others believe it could improve the overall flow of the event.

Mr Klah also explained that a less crowded red carpet would allow for better organisation, clearer visuals for media coverage and more meaningful interactions between artistes and interviewers.

It may also give designers and stylists more visibility, as attention shifts from quantity to quality appearances.

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards is one of Ghana’s biggest music events, celebrating the achievements of artistes across different genres.
