President John Dramani Mahama has clarified that the ongoing Kasoa–Winneba dualisation project is not funded by ECOWAS, but is rather an initiative inherited from the previous administration.

According to the President, the project forms part of efforts to improve road infrastructure and ease traffic congestion along the busy stretch, which serves as a major economic corridor in the Central Region.

President Mahama made this known during an inspection tour of the project at the Awutu Bereku section, where he assessed the progress of work and interacted with engineers and contractors on site.

He noted that the government remains committed to ensuring the timely completion of the project, stressing that adequate measures are being put in place to facilitate the smooth execution of the works.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Hon. Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, has urged the President and the Minister for Roads and Highways to engage the contractor to consider expanding the scope of the project to include inner roads within the district.

Also, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Hon. Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, has called on the President to ensure that all individuals whose properties were affected by the road construction are adequately compensated.
