The Church of Pentecost has made a significant impact in the education and health sectors across the country.

Last year, for instance, a total of GH¢3,959,970.48 was invested in supporting members pursuing various apprenticeship programmes.

The targeted funding facilitated practical skills training and vocational development, ensuring that beneficiaries are equipped with the necessary tools and expertise to achieve financial independence and contribute meaningfully to the national economy.

Network

Currently, the secretariat oversees a robust network of 108 educational institutions, comprising 104 basic schools, two senior high schools, and two vocational training institutes.

This expansive network serves a total enrolment of 39,356 learners, supported by a dedicated workforce of 1,795 teaching and 564 non-teaching staff.

“To foster a conducive learning environment, the Secretariat facilitated the completion of five new classroom blocks in Assin Fosu, Tweapease, Nkawkaw, Mankessim, and Nsawkaw, with 20 additional blocks currently under construction nationwide. Complementing these infrastructural upgrades is our targeted support for ministers stationed in …underserved areas,” the Chairman of the COP, Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, said in the State of the Church Address at the just-ended 48th General Council Meetings at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.

Infrastructure

He said beyond physical infrastructure, the Pentecost Social services (PENTSOS) remained committed to its students’ dignity and readiness and that in a fruitful collaboration with Samaritan’s Feet, an international NGO, 3,000 pairs of footwear were distributed to pupils across 17 basic schools in the Goaso Area.

“Across various districts, areas and ministries in Ghana, as well as the Headquarters, a total of GH¢26,518,237.50 was disbursed to support students at various levels of learning.

This comprehensive support ranged from one-time financial assistance to full scholarships,” he said.

Apostle Dr Nyamekye said a significant portion of the expenditure, totalling GH₵1,265,930.00, was disbursed through the Pentecost Education Scholarship Scheme (PESS) at the Headquarters.

Health

Apostle Dr Nyamekye said the Church of Pentecost’s health service delivery experienced significant growth and expansion in 2025, with all 13 healthcare facilities, comprising five hospitals and eight clinics, operating soundly to provide quality health care across both urban and rural areas.

The impact of the facilities, he said, was clearly evident in the Outpatient Department (OPD) attendance, which reached 246,583 for the period, marking a 12.4 per cent increase over the previous year.

“A major achievement of the year was the commissioning of the new 35-bed hospital at Kumbagre in the Bolgatanga Municipality in June 2025, a project made possible through a collaboration with the Teshie-Nungua Area.

Equipped with a maternity unit, a theatre, and a dedicated medical team including two medical officers, this facility is positioned to improve healthcare outcomes in the region.

Additionally, the Pentecost Clinic at Teshie-Praso was officially commissioned during the reporting period,” he said.

Apostle Dr Nyamekye said it was important to note that four health facilities were currently under construction and they included the specialist hospital in East Legon (Accra), a new hospital in Gbenyame in the Tamale Area, a Community Clinic at Pesator in Effiduase, and a Health Centre on Dwarf Island in the Afram Plains Area.
