Three new cinema vans for the Information Services Department (ISD) were commissioned in Ho on last Tuesday.

“This marks yet another significant step in our collective effort to strengthen public communication and bring the government closer to the people,” said the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu.

He said effective communication remained the backbone of good governance, and the vans testified to the government’s commitment to ensuring no community was left behind in accessing accurate, timely and relevant information.

The vans are to serve the Ho, Ho West, Adaklu, Agotime-Ziope, Central Tongu, South Tongu, and North Tongu areas.

The other areas to benefit from the services of the vans are the Kpando municipality, Hohoe, Afadzato South, South Dayi, and North Dayi.

The rest are Ketu South, South, Ketu North, Akatsi South, Akatsi North, Keta, and Anloga.

The regional minister pointed out that the vans were not merely vehicles, but mobile information centres equipped to support public education campaigns, deepen community engagement, and enhance the dissemination of government policies and programmes.

“They will play a vital role in bridging the information gap, combating misinformation, and promoting national development initiatives at the grassroots level,” he added.

Mr Gunu appealed to all municipal and district assemblies to take advantage of the communication vans and to collaborate with the ISD to effectively publicise government programmes, community initiatives, and development interventions.

He entreated all stakeholders to support the ISD in the maintenance of the vans, which he described as valuable national assets which must be protected, well-managed and adequately maintained to ensure their longevity and continuous service to the people.

Regional Information Officer

The Regional Information Officer, Emmanuel Kwasi Domi, said the vans reflected progress, commitment, and a shared vision to strengthen the outreach operations of the ISD.

He said the government had also provided 19 routers, desk computers for all district offices of the ISD and one laptop for the regional office to enhance the operations of the ISD.

“The tools are not just equipment; they are critical assets that will significantly improve our efficiency, communication, and service delivery,” he maintained.
