The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly in the Upper East Region received GH¢10.59 million from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) within the first three quarters of 2025, to support infrastructure, health and sanitation projects, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Roland Atanga Ayoo, has said.
He announced that the assembly generated GH¢2.46 million in Internally Generated Funds (IGF) between January and December 2025, representing 75.11 per cent of its target, an improvement of more than 72.07 per cent in 2024.
Addressing stakeholders as part of rendering accounts, he highlighted key achievements, ongoing projects and priorities aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting inclusive development.
Infrastructure
He mentioned some of the ongoing projects, such as the construction of classroom blocks, CHPS compounds and boreholes across communities such as Kolgu-Agusi, Waribisi-Tanzui, Sawaba and Yorogo.
In the education sector, he said the assembly was constructing and rehabilitating classroom blocks in four communities, distributed 1,200 dual desks and supplied 11,852 textbooks.
Mr Ayoo highlighted progress in healthcare delivery, including the completion of the Yipala CHPS compound, which has been handed over to the Ghana Health Service and the ongoing renovation of the Daporetindongo Health Centre.
Support
On agriculture, Mr Ayoo noted that over 800 farmer groups, involving nearly 20,000 farmers, had been registered under the Feed Ghana Programme, with 124 groups enrolled under the “Akoko Nkitikiti” initiative.
He said support had also been extended to women food processors and artisans to boost productivity and skills development.
Under social protection, the MCE said GH¢3.14 million had been disbursed to 1,128 households under the LEAP programme, while GH¢223,732 had been disbursed to persons who are challenged.
Mr Ayoo said the municipality remained peaceful due to strong collaboration with security agencies.
Despite challenges such as limited resources and rapid urbanisation, he emphasised the need for continued stakeholder support.
