Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II wasted little time in dispelling the false impression that the President of the Institute of Directors, Ghana (IoD-Gh), Rev. Mrs. Angela Carmen Appiah, had given about the customs and traditions surrounding women’s royal visits.
This occurred during the Institute of Directors’ courtesy call on March 27 at the Manhyia palace.
The president said, “I am a woman and I am not allowed in the Palace but since I am the first female President of the Institute of Directors, I had to come.”
Even yet, Otumfuo complimented her confidence and informed her that women in Asanteman are not barred from Asanteman palaces and have the same access to them as men.
He went on to say that gender bias is not tolerated in his Kingdom, where women have absolute authority over men.
The ruler of Ghana’s Asante Kingdom is Otumfuo. Among the most venerated monarchs in Africa is this one.
In order to honor Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his outstanding leadership over Asantemen, the Institute of Directors, Ghana (IoD-Gh) requested permission from the monarch.
