On Tuesday morning in Okanta, near Nsawam in the Eastern Region, a complainant, Daniel Dosu, was shot and killed while assisting police officers in arresting a suspect.
Dosu had previously reported an issue to the Police Headquarters and was leading the team to the suspect’s location when they were ambushed by an unknown assailant.
In a shocking turn of events, he was struck by a bullet in the forehead and pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
One police officer also sustained injuries in the attack but has since been treated and discharged.
However, the police swiftly sprang into action, launching an intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of five suspects, including the prime suspect, Daniel Quaye, who was revealed to be the very person Dosu was helping the police to apprehend.
The other suspects, Joshua Aboagye, Kwesi Acquaye, and Acquaye Samuel, are currently aiding in police investigations. Dosu’s body has been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue, and the incident has sent shockwaves through the community.
The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Dosu’s tragic death and the events that led up to it.
