Ghanaian Highlife artist Akwaboah Jnr has expressed his bewilderment at men opting to marry multiple wives, particularly considering the complexities that arise from managing even a single relationship.
During an appearance on the Ayekoo Ayekoo show with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM on September 18, 2024, the singer-songwriter tackled those who defend polygamy by citing biblical examples, particularly King Solomon.
He pointed out that even the wise King Solomon, renowned for his divine wisdom, succumbed to idolatry, a consequence of his excessive desire for women. A
kwaboah remarked that this pursuit led him astray, despite his initial alignment with God.
The award-winning musician urged young men who reference biblical figures to rationalise their polygamous tendencies to consider the eventual repercussions these men faced later in their lives.
He emphasised the importance of looking beyond their early achievements to the outcomes of their actions.
He further critiqued the unnecessary pressures that men impose upon themselves by engaging in polygamous or promiscuous behaviours. Akwaboah expressed incredulity at men who remain unfaithful, even when their partners possess admirable qualities such as attractiveness, submission, resourcefulness, and a willingness to be adventurous.
As a newlywed, Akwaboah shared his views on fidelity, acknowledging that he, like everyone, is not perfect.
He candidly stated that he cannot guarantee his faithfulness but is dedicated to resisting infidelity, which he believes can lead to the downfall of relationships.
He also commented on the issue of infidelity among women, noting that while some women may be unfaithful, it often occurs discreetly.
