Residents of Nima Left Stranded as Floodwaters Wreak Havoc

A night of heavy rainfall on Thursday left residents of Nima in distress as floodwaters surged into homes, destroying belongings and contaminating living spaces with waste and debris.

Many residents spent the night desperately scooping out water and salvaging what they could from the destruction.

The flooding once again exposed the vulnerabilities of urban settlements in Ghana, where poor drainage infrastructure and inadequate planning leave communities at the mercy of heavy rains.

As residents struggle to recover, they are calling on authorities to take urgent action to address the long-standing issue of flooding in the area.
