- Abronye DC is remanded for the second time.
- Charges: offensive conduct.
- Custody: National Intelligence Bureau.
- Next hearing: September 19, 2025.
- Court cited risks to public order and previous consistent rulings as justification for remand.
Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye DC, is to remain in custody after a Ghanaian circuit court rejected his latest bail request. The Bono Regional NPP chairman, facing charges of offensive conduct, will be held by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) until his next hearing on September 19, 2025.
Circuit Court Judge Samuel Bright Acquah explained that while the alleged offenses were minor on paper, the comments attributed to Abronye carried potential consequences for public safety and national security. Citing previous cases involving individuals who insulted government officials, the judge emphasized the importance of consistency in judicial rulings.
The court noted that although criticism of policy is allowed, personal attacks on authorities are not without consequences. Abronye’s legal team argued for his release, but the court maintained that the likelihood of repeat offenses and concerns over adherence to court proceedings justified continued detention.
The case is set to resume next Friday, when Abronye’s lawyers are expected to renew their bail application.
