Three Men Arrested for Involvement in Wassa Afransie Gold Robbery

On April 26, 2025, the Ghana Police Service announced the arrest of three individuals involved in a major gold robbery at Wassa Afransie in the Western Region.

The suspects—Felix Adjei (also known as Africa or Nana Adjei), Emmanuel Kelvin (a Nigerian national), and Kofi Appiah (known as Kesse)—are accused of robbing employees of Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited, making off with gold worth GHS 199,000 and other valuable items.

The robbery occurred on April 4, 2025, when Kofi Appiah, a driver for the gold buying company, and Emmanuel Adu, another employee, were returning from Wassa Ayiem with gold from a client. While traveling, they were ambushed by armed men who fired warning shots.

The robbers stole 14 pounds of gold, two mobile phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla, which was later found abandoned.

After a thorough investigation, police arrested Kofi Appiah on April 21, 2025, at his home in Wassa Akropong. The remaining suspects were tracked down and arrested at their hiding locations.

Upon their arrest, the police recovered several weapons, including a Jojeff pump-action gun, a Calymm PDS pistol without a serial number, 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition, an AA cartridge, two G3 bullets, a locally made pistol, and GHS 65,000 in cash, believed to be part of the stolen money.

The three suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with the investigation. Authorities have assured the public that the suspects will face legal action and justice will be served if they are found guilty.
