In a powerful gesture of gratitude and compassion, Ghanaian gospel icon Celestine Donkor and her husband, Kofi Donkor, have committed to funding the education of the two children left behind by the late DJ Awana.
The announcement was made during the one-week observance of the popular DJ’s passing, held at Tema Community 2. DJ Awana, a beloved member of the Multimedia Group Limited, died on April 6, 2025, after a short illness—sending shockwaves through Ghana’s entertainment circles.
The couple, visibly emotional during the memorial event, shared that this scholarship initiative is their personal way of honoring a man who played a major role in supporting their music journey.
DJ Awana was known not only for his talent behind the turntables but also for being a dedicated promoter of Ghanaian gospel music.
One of the children currently attends Junior High School, while the other is in Senior High School.
The Donkors’ promise will cover their continued academic journey, ensuring their father’s legacy lives on through their education.
The move has been widely praised by fans and industry peers, many of whom have lauded the couple for turning a moment of grief into one of purpose and kindness.
